Legislative Priorities

Trevor believes a strong public education system is essential for the future of Arkansas. He supports making Pre-K universally available and implementing proven education reforms to improve learning outcomes and ensure equitable opportunities for all students. These reforms include expanding after-school and summer programs, as well as providing wrap-around services for disadvantaged students.

Drawing on his classroom experience and the relationships he has built with fellow educators, Trevor will work to ensure that the voices of students, teachers, and schools are heard in the Arkansas Legislature. He is committed to increasing accountability for all schools that receive public tax dollars, ensuring that every child in Arkansas receives the quality education they deserve.

Arkansas ranks at or near the bottom in the nation in access to quality healthcare and healthcare outcomes. Trevor aims to improve access across the state, focusing on enhancing maternal and infant healthcare and eliminating healthcare deserts. Arkansas is the only state that has not expanded the Medicaid option for postpartum maternal care. With the nation's highest maternal death rate, this is unacceptable, and Trevor is determined to address this pressing issue.

Additionally, Arkansas has the strictest abortion laws in the nation, with exceptions only for the imminent life of the mother. Trevor supports expanding limited access to abortion in cases of rape, incest, fatal fetal anomalies, and when the mother's health is at risk.

Trevor is a strong advocate for upskill programs, on-the-job training, and apprenticeships, recognizing that these initiatives are crucial for empowering workers and boosting the state's economy. He will work to expand worker rights in Arkansas and to pass employee-centered legislation aimed at ensuring living wages for all Arkansans. By increasing wages, more Arkansans can achieve self-sufficiency, thus reducing the reliance on public assistance.

Trevor acknowledges that as an "employment at will" state, Arkansas's employment laws currently favor businesses and do not adequately support workers' rights. He believes that investing in the workforce is an investment in Arkansas's future. These programs not only provide individuals with the skills they need for better-paying jobs but also fill critical gaps in essential industries. Trevor is committed to advocating for policies that protect workers' rights, including fair pay, safe working conditions, and the ability to organize and bargain collectively, leading to a more productive and motivated workforce.

Trevor firmly believes that the state should not pass laws that favor one group over others. He advocates for a fair and just legal system where no group is given preferential treatment at the expense of another. Enshrining into secular law any provisions that favor one group while reducing or eliminating the rights of another is fundamentally unjust and contrary to the principles of equality and democracy.

Trevor supports the rights of individuals to live freely, as long as their choices don't infringe on the rights of others. He believes that everyone should have the freedom to make personal decisions about their lives, including matters related to their bodies, beliefs, and lifestyles, without fear of discrimination or repression. Trevor is committed to protecting these freedoms and ensuring that all Arkansans are treated with dignity and respect.

Trevor will work tirelessly to ensure that the laws of Arkansas reflect these values, promoting fairness and protecting the rights of every citizen. His commitment to justice and equality will guide his efforts in the legislature, ensuring that all Arkansans have the opportunity to live their lives freely and without undue interference.

Trevor advocates for an open, transparent, and accountable government, believing these principles are the foundation of a healthy democracy. He strongly opposes actions, such as those taken by Governor Sanders, that weaken the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and hinder the ability of Arkansans to hold elected officials accountable. Transparency is crucial in ensuring that the government serves the people effectively and honestly. Trevor believes there should be no secrets in public service or in how public tax dollars are spent by the state government.

In addition to advocating for strong FOIA protections, Trevor supports measures that increase government accountability, including regular audits of government spending, clear and accessible reporting of government activities, and stringent ethical standards for all public officials. He is committed to engaging with the community to ensure that their voices are heard and their concerns are addressed. By promoting transparency and accountability, Trevor aims to build a more trustworthy and effective government for all Arkansans, dedicated to operating with integrity and in the best interests of its citizens.

Public education, healthcare, jobs, personal liberty, and government transparency are my top issues, but I know that you may have other issues that are more pressing to you.
