About Trevor McGarrah

Trevor McGarrah grew up in Northwest Arkansas. He began his educational journey in Fayetteville before attending the Arkansas School for Math, Science, and the Arts in Hot Springs, graduating in 2000. His time as a missionary in the Philippines from 2001 to 2003 deeply influenced his commitment to empathy, service, and being a advocate for positive change.

After returning to Arkansas, Trevor pursued a degree in physics at the University of Arkansas, switching from business to embrace the challenge. He graduated in 2007 and continued to earn a Masters of Arts in Teaching in 2008, inspired by his missionary work to become a teacher.

Trevor's career spans teaching at various levels, performing pest control, managing logistics in a food processing plant, and other roles, giving him a deep understanding of the challenges facing working-class Arkansans. In 2020, he returned to teaching and moved with his family to Searcy, where he and his wife, Mary Ann, raise their three children: Aubrey, Coleman, and Emrick. Mary Ann works at Land of Frost in Searcy, while Aubrey studies chemistry at the University of Arkansas, Coleman attends Searcy High School, and Emrick is at Southwest Middle School.

Trevor's decision to run for State Representative in 2023 was driven by his advocacy for public education, sparked when he saw the need to defend students, teachers, and schools against attacks. He saw many legislators who lacked classroom experience were implementing bad education policies while ignoring the concerns of educators across the state. With the support of his family and community, including his parents Larry and Goldie McGarrah, Trevor is committed to representing the interests of all Arkansans in the State Legislature.

Got Questions?

I have a page where I briefly elaborate on the five issues I feel are the most important. I invite you to read through that page to see if you can find an answer there. If you would like to know more about where I stand on those or other issues, I invite you to email me at tdmcgarrah@gmail.com or reach out to me on the social media platforms where I regularly post information and answers to questions.

I'm running as a Democrat for the Arkansas House of Representatives because I believe our government should work for all Arkansans, not just the wealthy and well-connected. As a teacher, I've dedicated my life to helping every student succeed, regardless of their background or abilities. I see firsthand how our state can do more to support regular people like you and me, who often struggle to make ends meet. Our current legislature focuses too much on aiding millionaires and billionaires, neglecting the needs of the poor and working class. I want to bring a new approach to Little Rock, one that prioritizes the needs of everyday Arkansans and doesn't pander to people with deep pockets. It’s time for a government that truly represents and serves all its people.

Absolutely, I am more than willing to listen to you about your concerns. As a candidate for the Arkansas House of Representatives, one of my top priorities is listening to and addressing the issues that matter most to the people I aim to represent. Your insights and experiences are invaluable in shaping policies that truly serve our community.

I want to emphasize that I am not running to be a representative for my party, but a true representative of the people I am elected to serve. It is my duty to be the voice for all of you in Little Rock, not just the political party next to my name. Whether it's about education, healthcare, jobs, or any other topic, I'm here to listen and work together towards solutions that benefit us all. Please feel free to reach out—I look forward to our conversation.

While I would like to return every call and answer every email personally, it can sometimes be very challenging, especially when many people express similar concerns at the same time. While I may not be able to reply to each person individually, I will always strive to be open and transparent about my answers, beliefs, and the reasoning behind every vote and piece of legislation I work on.

I am committed to listening to all perspectives, even if they differ from my own. It is important to me that everyone feels heard and respected, and I will make every effort to ensure that my decisions reflect a thorough understanding of the concerns and needs of all my constituents.
